Tetsu Oyama is Director, Japan at Newton Second Advisors. He is responsible for
coordinating our investments and client engagements in Japan as well as providing
IT Management and Organizational consulting services.
Mr. Oyama has 30 years of experience establishing, restructuring, and managing
diverse organizations for growth. Mr. Oyama has worked as a senior executive and
technology manager for Wellsave, a joint venture of Hong Kong based Dairy Farm
International and Seiyu, one of the major Japanese Retailers. He has also worked for
DirectTV, Carrefour, Triumph International, CIGNA Insurance, Olivetti, and Pepsi Cola
during his career and was one of the first employees of Sun Microsystems KK. In addition,
Mr. Oyama has achieved great success for start-ups by working for several early stage
companies as a key member on the board of directors.
Mr. Oyama has extensive experience designing and implementing information systems.
He has successfully managed the deployment of several Enterprise Resource Planning
(ERP) systems during his career. He has designed and implemented many different
supply chain management systems for both local and international reporting, management,
and regulatory requirements.
Mr. Oyama speaks fluent English and Urdu (in addition to Japanese), and is well
traveled. He is familiar with local and international cultures and business practices,
especially in healthcare, retail, consumer goods and insurance industries.
Mr. Oyama has a degree from Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, one of the highest
ranked national Universities in Japan.
