Kris Nybakken

Kristopher Nybakken is Managing Director of Newton Second Advisors. He has a background in operational management and corporate finance, and extensive experience with information technology and product development. In his current position, he advises clients on strategic, financial, and operational issues in venture, joint venture, and corporate development. He is an active or emeritus corporate director of companies in the United States and Japan.

Mr. Nybakken was previously Managing Director of Petkevich & Partners, LLC, a merchant bank in San Francisco. In this position, he was responsible for providing management consulting and financial advisory services to clients. These clients ranged from start-ups to mature companies. Mr. Nybakken was also responsible for analyzing and managing the firm's own investments in the communications, software, and internet industries.

Mr. Nybakken has spent over 20 years in the information technology (IT) industry. He participated in several successful start-up companies as an executive during this time, developing strategies, designing and managing business processes, raising capital, and recruiting and managing staff. Mr. Nybakken held the title of Chief Technical Officer at WebMD, an internet healthcare concern which was acquired by Healtheon in May 1999 for approximately $7.9 billion. Mr. Nybakken became CTO of WebMD when the company he co-founded in 1995, Sapient Health Network (SHN), was acquired by WebMD. Mr. Nybakken was responsible for product and software development, network and systems operations, and research and development at WebMD.

Mr. Nybakken held the title of Director at Ledge Multimedia, where he was responsible for the outsourced digital product development of PC Magazine / Ziff- Davis Interactive, IVI / Mayo Clinic, WGBH, and The Computer Museum. He was also a project manager and software architect at MicroMentor, where he designed and managed the implementation of many vertical multimedia applications, including the initial enterprise-wide release of the Ernst & Young U.S. Tax training system.

Mr. Nybakken has a B.F.A. in Art Media Studies from Syracuse University, and has exhibited at SIGGRAPH, galleries and exhibitions.
